It was Dec 25th 2005. I knew if not now, then for the next 6 months i would not be able to go for a Trek!!( read the evil called exams). The alarm bells were sounded. The search for fellow trekkers started, but alas nobody was ready. Then came along sudershan, my pal in most of the treks i have done. It was decided that just the 2 of us go. The dates were 30th 31st DEC. The place was decided to be Gorakhgad(2137ft). The route Mumbai-(Train)Kalyan-(ST)-Murbad-(ST)-Dehari-Khopivali. There is a large cave just near the top of Gorakhgad. The water tanks (potable) are very near the cave.
Machindra Gad(1500ft) is just next to GorakhGad. The way to get up there is very difficult( read ropes, harness and carbines). The view from atop Gorakhgad offers Siddhagad, Ahupe ghat, Kalsubai. Siddhagad is next door, so if u have another day in your hand go for it.Gorakhgad can be a 1 day trip too.
